Winter Birthday Card

I seem to resort to making these "monogram" cards when I don't have time to fuss with anything and I just want to get a job done... Here is a winter one for birthday.

One More Christmas Card

I couldn't post this earlier, so here it is...
I totally scraplifted this from someone. I can't remember who it was, but I saw this card on Cricut message boards a while back. Might have been last year.
For the embossing I used Tim Holtz Texture Fades. "Damask, Gridlock and Dot-Matrix". Cheeks are chalked and "hat" part has little felt stars.

EDIT: I found the original card and it was made by Lguild. Here is her card:

More Store Closing Finds

Thursday was the last day my local scrapbook store was open, and now everything was 70% off.
I got tons of stuff. Best find was pink Teresa Collins 8x8 paper rack. I struggle to store my 8x8 pads and papers and the rack I found was perfect. It was a store fixture and they said I can have it for $5. DEAL! Didn't think that for a moment. I also bought four IKEA Fas lights for $5 a piece.

Merry Christmas!

I'm finally done with all my Christmas crafts... From now on I will start to prepare for Christmas and then quiet down and spend Christmas time with my loved ones. I will be back later on this year.

Thank You all who have come here to see what I'm up to. It means so much to me. I wish you and yours...

Christmas Gifts 2010

Here is what I have been up to. I made 27 ornaments this year. 20 big clear ones and 7 small glitter ones.

I washed and dried the ornaments inside out before decorating. To clean the inside I used rice, dish soap and water.

Small ones are glittered with floor wax (Pledge Future Shine) from the inside. I used Martha Stewart glitter and some sample bag sizes from Michael's. I can't remember the brand.
I etched the names with "Armour Etch". Etching didn't really show on glittered balls, so I used silver "Rub 'n Buff" to enhance it more. All ornaments are different color.

Bigger ornaments have etched names also. They are showing better (not so good in a picture tho) so I left them be. I filled inside with some raffia. Guys got green ornaments and ladies red ones.

Font is from "Elegant Cakes "cartridge. I made decorative pins for all ornaments and put charms on the cord they are hanging from. All ornaments are from Michael's. I liked their tops best. There is no gaps.

I found boxes for the ornaments from Xpedx store. I made tags and cut images from "Gingerbread" cartridge. Finished off with jute rope and white yarn.

It was quite the task. It took "few" tries before I was happy with the etching. I used thick cling vinyl and ran it through my xyron. I was missing spots in my etching and after a while I realized that they were because of air bubbles. I kept brushing, dabbing and moving the etching cream the whole time it was on the surface of the ornament, and the result was really crisp and nice. I'm really pleased how it turned out.

"Store Closing" Finds

I noticed yesterday that my local scrapbook store had "CLOSING" sign on a window. Of course I had to go and investigate...

Fixtures were priced "on the spot" and all the merchandise was 40% off. I bought 60 slot 12x12 paper rack ($30), Two pen racks (small $10, big $15). I also found Tim Holtz Stamp pad case. Final price for that was $18.75.

Today I went back and "legally robbed the store". Everything was 50% off.  Best find was Zutter Dreamkuts which I have wanted for some time now. I got it under $50. YAY me!

Tool Magic

I have been busy with Christmas gifts... I will post what I have been up to when I'm done.

I have been using jewelery pliers quite a bit and run across stuff called "Tool Magic". It coats your jewelery tools with flexible rubber so that nothing gets scratched. Easy to use (but stinks). You just dip the tip of your pliers in it. I quite like it so far. You can peel it off easily if you need to re-coat. If you have a "heavy hand" you might need more frequent coating.

EDITED: I bought this from Michael's.
